Question

Will HSBC accounts ever sync again?

My HSBC bank account hasn't been able to sync with Quickbooks since October 2019. This article says that some banks no longer work:https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-uk/help-articles/understanding-if-you-can-update-your-bank-feeds-to-open-banking/00/353110 Will they ever? I've been waiting 4 months, and paying for a service that doesn't work.

I'm consistently prompted with error codes 185 & 187 whilst trying to reconnect, to no avail. I've tried doing this: Post name is 'Understanding if you can update your bank feeds to Open Banking' (QB won't allow me to post the URL link). And I've tried talking to someone on the in-app chat pop-up, but they couldn't give any better advice.

Does anyone one know of another, more reliable service that I can switch to? Or when HSBC will work with Quickbooks?

Thanks for contacting us, hglampe.

Right now, our Online Banking Team is still working with your financial institution to get this back up and running again. Once the banner is available, click Update Now to start updating your bank account.

We'll  keep you posted through the Understanding if you can update your bank feeds to Open Banking article. We'll modify this link once the connection is available.

In the meantime, you manually upload bank transactions to ensure you don't miss any entry in your books. The following links below will guide you through bringing them in depending on your subscription:

Don't hesitate to post again if there's anything else you need. I'm always around to help you out.

What is the problem with HSBC? My latest transactions are from December 2019. Every time I am prompted to provide One Time Password I do that and QuickBooks tells me the connection was successful but no new transactions have been downloaded, despite multiple attempts and many manual "Updates".

I appreciate that you've manually updated your banking feeds, pawelsiwczak.

Manually updating your downloaded bank transactions is the first step if bank transactions won’t download or there's a bank error. Let's look into your bank's website if there are updates and maintenance. This can hinder available transactions to be downloaded into QuickBooks.

If you made changes on your bank’s website, let's make sure that you update the info in QuickBooks as well. These details such as username, password, or account number.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking page.
  2. Select the HSBC bank
  3. At the upper-right, click the pencil icon and select Edit sign-in info
  4. Enter and save the updates.

It'll also be best if you can provide any error that prompted so I can check reported issues related to it. Thanks in advance!
