Hello,

I have a need to add a bank account to QuickBooks Desktop Bank Feeds section but I don't want to add one where I have to sign in, I want to use the .QBO file I download but it won't let me do it without asking me to sign in to the bank no matter what I do.

Can someone give me directions on how to solve this?

Thanks

Hi there, Marcus. When using Webconnect to download your transactions into your QuickBooks Desktop account. You only need to log in to your Intuit account, not your bank account. Let me show you the complete steps below.

Since you've already downloaded the .QBO file with your company's transactions, you’re on the right track. Now, let's import the file into QuickBooks to add those transactions to your account.

Here's how:

  1. On the menu bar, go to Banking
  2. Select Bank feeds.
  3. Choose Import Web Connect File.
  4. Select the .QBO file you saved, then select Open.
  5. When asked to select a bank account, select Create a new QuickBooks account if the account you're importing transactions into is not in QuickBooks yet.
  6. If the account you are importing transactions into is already set up in QuickBooks, select Use a QuickBooks account that exists.
  7. Select Continue. Then, select OK.
  8. Then, go to the Bank Feeds Center to review your transactions.

Furthermore, if you are unfamiliar with creating an account in QuickBooks, refer to this article for detailed steps: Add, edit, or delete accounts in QBDT.

Additionally, once you've added your transactions to QuickBooks, you can create a rule to categorize them automatically.

I appreciate you reaching out here in the Community, Marcus. If you have further concerns or any other QuickBooks-related concerns. We're here to help you provide your needs. Take care.

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply.  My issue must be that the file I am attempting to use is not a correctly formatted file and isn't a QBO file.  I'm going to guess that's why I can't figure out how to do this as the correct data is not detected.

Thanks

If you want to import the contents of an OFX/QFX/QBO file without signing in, you can use our BRC OFX/QFX/QBO to IIF Converter

It works with both current and 'sunsetted' versions of QuickBooks.
