Question

After reconciling a credit card statement, I went in and changed a few expense accounts, not the amount. Now my reconciliation is off.

I changed the expense account on a reconciled credit card, not the amount of the expense, just the account.  Now the reconciliation is off by the amount of those account changes!  How do I get back to my reconciled credit card?

It's a pleasure to have you here today, @TerryS54.

When modifying reconciled transactions on the bank register page, ensure the R reflects below the checkmark :heavy_check_mark: column. R means reconciled, C means cleared, while the blank removes the transactions from the reconciliation. We'll write down the steps to address this situation and fix the reconciliation.

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the left navigational bar, go to the Transactions tab.
  3. Select Chart of accounts.
  4. Locate the bank and below the Action column, click View register.
  5. Select the transaction you edited and then in the :heavy_check_mark: column, click the box until it shows R.
  6. Once done, select Save button.
