AMEX Savings Account Connection Issues

Hey, I have an AMEX high yield savings account, which is linked with my AMEX Corporate/Business account, but when I try adding it, all my others account but the Savings Account appear on the list. I’m unable to add my High Yield Savings Account to Quickbooks. How can I have someone take a look at this for me?

Are you getting some error messages when trying to connect your bank to QuickBooks Online (QBO)? Any additional information will help me provide the best resolution for your concern.

 

Since you're unable to see it in the list, let's check if you choose the correct financial institution. These are the possible causes if you're unable to find your bank:

 

  • Your bank has multiple names on our list. Ensure you have selected the correct listing or tried all possible links. Search by the banking sign-in URL to ensure you are using the correct listing.
  • Your bank does not connect to all types of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs business accounts).
  • Your bank is not a participating financial institution.

 

To isolate this, do the following:

 

  • Verify the spelling. Ensure the spelling is exactly as it appears on your bank's website.
  • Use particular names to search for your bank. If you still can't find anything, try broader names like "Citi."
  • Enter your bank's URL into the search. For example, search for "hsbc.com." for HSBC.
  • Search for the name of the issuing bank, meaning the bank that issued your bank card. You can find the issuing bank's name on the back of your card. "Chase," "HSBC," or "Bank of America" should work, but "Visa" may be too generic.

Alternatively, you still have the option to import those transactions manually in QBO. Please visit this resource for guidance: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online. After that, make sure to categorize and then reconcile the transactions.

Hi Nicole,

Thanks for your reply. I am not receiving any error messages when trying to connect my accounts. I have carefully logged into both my personal and business accounts with AMEX to locate the high-yield savings account (HYSA), but unfortunately, it does not appear in the list of available accounts to connect.

I have also made sure to select the correct name of the bank during this process, following your guidance to check for multiple names and ensuring the spelling matches exactly as it appears on AMEX's website, however, the HYSA still isn't showing up in the QBO connection options.

My preference would be to find an automatic way to pull data from my HYSA into QBO. Do you know of anyone successfully connecting their AMEX HYSA to QBO? Any insights or further guidance on this matter would be very helpful, as manual transaction uploads are less desirable due to the volume of transactions I need to manage.

Hi Russell,

I did everything you suggested, but still, only 4 of my 5 accounts are showing up in QBO - the HYSA is missing.

 

Any chance there’s a known glitch with AMEX HYSAs or something else I might be missing? Appreciate any more tips or tricks you might have!

I just moved over from desktop to online and originally had the same problem as you.  The HYSA just didn't show up when you log in the generic American Express connection.  The solution for me was to scroll down and find "American Express (Loans & Savings)". I logged in with my same user/pwd and the savings account showed up and I successfully connected, downloaded and synched to QBO.  I hope this works for you so you if you haven't found a solution yet.

Hi Team,

 Same here; spoke to support on the phone and to Amex. Amex gave me their internal Intuit QuickBooks Support number You can reach them at +[removed]. Still no solution. 

 

I am currently manually adding them not many transactions but would be nice to have this auto download

Upon checking our system, I found that there's an ongoing investigation regarding AMEX connections (INV-92191). It's the reason why you're unable to link your account.

 

I understand you've already reached out to our QuickBooks Support team. However, I recommend contacting them again because they have the tools to add you to the list of affected users and get notified once it's resolved. It's the best we can do given that they have the resources to look into this further.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company.
  2. Click the Help button at the top right corner.
  3. Look for the Search tab, then select Contact us.
  4. Provide a summary of your concern and click Continue.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us. You can either choose Chat with us or Have us call you.
