I stopped quickbooks online for four months, is it best to start a new company file and do a new migration?

Yes, you can start a new company file anytime you want, @Timothy11_2. I'll share some pros and cons if you start over with your subscription to do migration and connect your bank account.

To clarify, has your subscription expired? Have you encountered any error messages when connecting your bank account?

If your data is messed up and you're unable to connect your account, then we can create a new company file. Please know that this method will take more time. This is because it involves modifying the chart of accounts, adding products and services, creating or customizing invoices, connecting bank accounts, and more.

If your books are less than 60 days old, purging your company can completely damage your bank or third-party app connections. For a complete guide to removing your data in QuickBooks Online and starting over with new books, refer to this article: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.

If you still have an active subscription, you can check out this guide to cancel it: Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription or trial.

You'll want to read this page for further details about importing your lists to your new QuickBooks account: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online. Please know that you'll need to manually enter the information that we're unable to transfer.

As always, please let us know if you have other QuickBooks-related concerns. We're always here to help you. Take care.
