bank balance doesn't match, is that ok?...

hi, my linked business checking account balance doesn't match the number for that account in quickbooks (screenshot attached)...

 

i just updated/downloaded all transactions and matched them all, but the numbers don't match... are they supposed to match?

 

(I just migrated from qbd-mac to qbo and had to rematch all bank transactions for the year and that's where I am right now)

From a business perspective, the bank and QuickBooks balance need to match when performing reconciliation and migration.

You also need to check why they don't match to fix them.

Here is some reason why balances not match:

  • Outstanding transactions
  • New transactions for a connected account
  • Duplicate transactions
  • Edited or deleted transactions
  • Credit card (liability) account
     

You may check this article that can help you on how to fix the differences between QuickBooks balance and Bank balance.

    Hi @user21876,

     

    If your bank register balance in QuickBooks Online doesn’t match your actual bank balance, several factors may cause the balances to vary. You would need to verify why they don’t match, and fix them accordingly.

     

    Balances may not match for a number of reasons:

    • Outstanding transactions
    • New transactions for a connected account
    • Duplicate transactions
    • Edited or deleted transactions
    • Credit card (liability) account
