Bank Balance showing $0 on QuickBooks Desktop

In my banking feeds the bank account balance shows $0.  I can import transactions, but the bank balance will not update.  QuickBooks balance shows accurately after I reconcile.  How do I get bank feeds to update the bank balance correctly?

I'll make sure you'll see the correct bank balance, @reallycheapgeeks.

QuickBooks Desktop depends on the data being feed through by your bank. You'll get an updated bank balance as long as you have an internet connection and your financial institution supports online banking services. In this case, you'll want to contact your bank to know if they have some sync issues or system maintenance.

If all is well on the bank's side, you'll want to ensure your QuickBooks is updated. This way, your program will have the latest features and critical fixes.

If the same thing happens, you can run the Verify and Rebuild tool instead. The "missing data" can be caused by a file damage. Thus, you can run the said tool to fix it.

Here's how to Verify your data:

  1. Go to the File menu at the top.
  2. Select Utilities, and then choose Verify Data.

If the Verify data detects an issue, you can Rebuild your file.

Meanwhile, you can download your transactions manually. After that, you're now ready to add and match your entries to prevent duplicates.
