Bank download info incomplete.

Ever since the last bank update, my transactions no longer have enough information for me to process without logging into the bank.

This is the issue:

Pre-Update: DBT CRD 10/24/18 22754129 ALEXANDER MANUFACTURING

Post-Update: DBT CRD 10/24/18 22754129 A

 

Pre-Update: Transfer from Checking XX4401 to Transfer from Checking XX4401 to Checking XX4930

Post-Update: Transfer from Checking XX4401 to

 

The bank wants a OFX or CONN file, however we're using QB Online version and I can't find where I get those files. Is anyone else having this issue and does anyone know if this is a bank or QBO problem?

The bank is First Financial, our branch is in Fairfield, OH.

I know the issue is with them, but I don't think they know where the problem stems from...thanks for helping!

I've checked my resources, and currently, there isn't an investigation about First Financial that fits your issue. I recommend calling our phone agents so they can create an investigation ticket about this. That way, they can directly reach out to your financial institution and work for a fix.

I'm here to help you get the OFX file so you can download and update your bank transactions in QuickBooks Online. Let's get started.

 

The OFX file is also known as a WebConnect file. This format gets transactions from a financial institution and widely supported by QuickBooks Online. The OFX format allows extended variants of itself. Extended OFX variants should be compatible and provide additional details.

 

You can download transactions from your bank’s website into QuickBooks using our WebConnect feature.

 

Download transactions from your bank's website:

 

  1. Sign in to your bank's website.
  2. Follow your bank's online process to download your transactions to your computer.
  3. Depending on your bank's available features, choose transactions from specific or multiple accounts, or select a date range for transactions.
    If you're adding historical transactions for a connected account, make sure you specify a date range earlier than the last 90 days. If you overlap date ranges, you may end up with duplicate transactions, which you must then delete or exclude. Because QuickBooks Online only supports files sizes up to 350 KB (kilobytes), if you're downloading a lot of transactions, you may need to download smaller date ranges.
  4. Choose a supported file type for the download file. If you attempt to upload a file in an unsupported format, you will receive an error message.
  5. Note the name of the file you downloaded, and the location you downloaded it to so you can easily find it to upload.

Upload the file to your QuickBooks Online company:

 

  1. From the left menu, select Banking, and choose Banking.
  2. From the Update drop-down menu, select File Upload. 
  3. Select Browse and choose the file you downloaded from your bank.
  4. Select Next.
  5. From the QuickBooks account drop-down list, select the account to which to upload the bank transactions, and select Next.
  6. When uploading a CSV file, follow the prompts to select columns from the CSV file that match QuickBooks Online banking fields. You can also upload CSV bank transactions through the Import Data page. To do so, select the Gear icon, and, under Tools, select Import Data, then select Bank Data.
  7. Select Next.
  8. Select Let's go! (or Finish).

Thanks for responding! However, I don't need to download transactions, they are downloading, they're just not downloading with enough information to allow me to book them into their proper accounts without logging into the bank and looking up each transaction.

The Bank is the one asking for our OFX or CONN files...

Thanks for getting back and providing more details about your banking issue.

 

The data we receive is dependent upon what your financial institution sends over to QuickBooks Online. I suggest contacting your bank to verify if they're under maintenance or having an issue with their system.

 

Could you also provide me your financial institution, so I can check if there are any on-going issue about the downloaded transaction without enough account information?
