Question

Bank Feed

I recently started having an issue with my QuickBooks desktop bank feed.  I get an error message saying the bank password in incorrect.  However, I can log in directly to the bank with no issues.  I have deactivated the bank feed and reactivated it.  I have changed the the bank login password and entered the new password into QuickBooks.  This has not solved the problem.  Has anyone else had issues?  I have called the QB help desk twice and both times the customer service rep hung up before the issue could be resolved.

Hello, SFX.

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue. I'm here to help you fix the error you've encountered when connecting to bank feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.

Could you please share the name of your banking institution? This helps me check for any open investigations and offers a better solution to this problem.

In the meantime, let's perform a series of troubleshooting steps to rule this out. Before we start, please ensure your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest release. This guarantees you have the most recent features and fixes. I'll show you how.

  1. Close your company files and QuickBooks program.
  2. Open the Window Start menu.
  3. Search for QuickBooks Desktop, then right-click the icon and select Run as administrator.
  4. While on the No Company Open screen, go to the Help menu and click Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  5. Choose the Options tab, select Mark All, and then Save.
  6. Go to the Update Now tab, then checkmark the Reset Update checkbox.
  7. When you're ready, hit Get updates.

Close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop to allow the update to be installed, then select Yes. When the installation is complete, restart your computer. Then try reactivating bank feeds. If the problem persists, you can re-brand or reset the QuickBooks bank feeds account. For further information, please see Solutions 1 through 3 in this article: Re-brand or reset accounts for Bank Feeds access.

Also, you can run the verify and rebuild data to make sure your company file is free from any data damage. For your reference, please see this resource: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
