Let's fix the bank feed issue together, mjdevitomd.

One reason why bank transactions won't download in QuickBooks Desktop is because of the bank system errors. We need to make sure that they doesn't have any maintenance. You'll want to check your bank's website to see if there are notifications or alert.

Also, we can create a dummy account and merge it to the main one. This process resolves errors in downloading your bank transactions. Please refer to this guide about merging accounts.

We have an option to manually import your transactions via web connect (.qbo) files. You can get it from your bank's website. Please check this article if you'll encounter Web Connect import errors

I'll always be here if you need more assistance about bank feeds. Looking forward to assisting you again.

thanks for the reply alex.  but even when i attempt to import via the QBO option, it states 'downloading trasnaction' but then a drop down appears (at top of Internet explorer) stating 'download file,' which I clean on to download - and from that point it just freezes. nothing happens at all.

This was not the case for years of using this option.

Same issue with me for QBO - no new transactions for days now but I see lots in my online banking. I really dislike Intuits lack of alerts to known problems and M-F only chat support.  Wish there was another alternative.

Hi there, MidnightSun.

Thanks for posting your experience here in the Community. Let me help you update your bank account to bring in the transactions to QuickBooks Online.

There are several instances of why you’re unable to receive the latest bank transactions.

  • They may have implemented changes to their service offerings, Web Connect or Direct Connect.
  • An update on your bank’s information such as the name (bank merger), account number, and login credentials requires you to refresh it in QuickBooks.
  • You may have an Inactive Bank Account enabled for Online Banking in QuickBooks.
  • There may be ongoing maintenance on your bank’s website.

Here's how:

This process will restore the bank connection and will trigger updates to your bank transactions.

  1. Go to Banking on the left panel.
  2. Click on the Banking link.
  3. Select the account you’re working on.
  4. Next, click on the Update button.

Here are some articles that can help you get going:

Additionally, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care team. They can help check the connections between QuickBooks and your bank. They can also perform an escalation whenever needed to investigate and resolve the issue.

Keep me posted if you have additional questions about banking transactions in QBO. I'll be around to help.

I would like to jump in here with a similar but different issue.

My version (Desktop  Mac 2021) does not have a "bank feed" tab under banking...

When I do attempt to connect my bank, it just sends me in circles.

First it asks me to log into my bank, download a bank statement to my computer and then download that same statement into my QB.  Well it basically sends me from one screen telling me to download the statement to the next screen saying that I need to go download the statement.  It never lets me attempt to download the statement or offer any easy options like log into your bank and we will grab all necessary info.  No help for this on Youtube or anywhere else that I can find.  QB wait times over an hour to get help...

Hello @RG Studios

Let's perform a few troubleshooting steps so you can get back to business and work with QuickBooks accordingly. This way, we can determine why you're unable to download your transactions with online banking in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

To start with, let's download and make sure to install the latest released version of QuickBooks for Mac. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to QuickBooks.
  2. Select Check for Updates.
  3. On the pop-up window, select Install Update.
  4. Click Install and Relaunch.

But if you're still unable to open and work well with the program even after following the steps above, consider manually updating QuickBooks with the steps outlined in this article: How to keep QuickBooks for Mac up-to-date so you always have the latest features and fixes?

However, if you can confirm the QuickBooks you're working with is the latest version, yet it doesn't let you download your transaction, I'd recommend following the outlined in this article to continue our troubleshooting steps: Fix Online Banking Download and Import Issues.

Need help performing any tasks related to your business account and company settings, click here to access and browse all articles for QuickBooks products. This reference contains most resources with steps on how you can update your data and security management, to name a few.

Don't hesitate to post again here if you have other questions or concerns with QuickBooks tasks and navigations. I'm always around happy to help. Stay safe and have a good one!

Thank you but this did not help at all.

When I Click ONLINE BANKING,  I get the warning that I need to set up online banking.  DUH...

When I click SET UP  it sends me to the page to open my bank account and tells me that I need to download a statement and that I will be able to download the statement to by QB in the next step.

When I go back to QB to DOWNLOAD TRANSACTIONS, it gives me for a second time the warning that I need to set up online banking.

A big circle of nothing getting done.

Everywhere I look, I see that under the BANKING tab, there should be a BANK FEED tab but mine does not have it.  I just purchased it 2 days ago and it is QB Desktop for Mac 2021...

My Bank is in the choice of banks.
Please help...
