Bank Reconciliation

Hi,

I'm trying to reconcile my Credit card account in QBO. The credit card is used by our sister concern company too. So the bank feed shows their transactions. But I have not entered any entry for their transactions since they do not concern my books. I just exclude their transactions from my bank feed.

When I try to reconcile the balance does not match. How should I proceed with the reconciliation?

Hello there, @Nidhi1.

I'm here to help you match your bank reconciliation register balance with your bank statement.

The date of the transaction plays a great role to get accurate data. You'll want to check the dates on the individual checks and deposits. Another thing to look out for is the transaction. There could be one that isn't supposed to be reconciled, or there is an uncleared transaction that was reconciled. I'd recommend reviewing your reconciliation history to see if there's one. Here's how:

  1. Head over to the Accounting, then go to the Reconcile tab.
  2. Click the History by account link.
  3. Select the reconciled bank account under the Account drop-down menu.
  4. Choose the statement ending date where the amounts don't match with the Balance Sheet.
  5. Click View report.

If there is an incorrect reconciled or unreconciled transaction, you can fix it by going to your Chart of Accounts. You'll want to open the bank's register and unreconcile or reconcile the transaction manually. Here's how:

  1. In your Chart of Accounts, click the View register link for the bank.
  2. Find and select the transaction in question.
  3. Under the Check mark column, change the status to R or blank
  4. Click Save
