I am able to connect to my bank and it shows the correct balance on the link screen.  However, quickbooks is no longer updating the bank register.  How can this be fixed?

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, Bomber21.

When you connect your online bank account, QuickBooks automatically downloads new transactions. If you're not seeing the latest transactions, or updates seem stuck, there's a few things you'll want to do.

For most banks, QuickBooks downloads your latest available transactions every night around 10 PM PT. Some data may take a little longer. If downloads are stuck, or you want the latest available records, you can perform a manual download.

Here's how:

  1. In your left navigation bar, go to Banking or Transactions.
  2. Access the Banking tab.
  3. Select Update.

This will update all of your connected accounts. If new transactions are downloaded, the number of records in each account tile will increase. In the event you see a message about additional authentication, follow your onscreen steps to continue the update.

Next, you'll want to check your financial institution's website. If downloads seem slow or stuck, the issue may be on their end. To check, you can sign in to their online website:

  1. From your Banking or Transactions menu, click Link account.
  2. Search for your bank and choose it.
  3. Copy their listed URL.
  4. Sign in to the institution's website using your copied web address.
  5. If you're able to sign in, it means there may not be a major issue. If you can't get signed in, definitely reach out to your financial institution to see what's going on.

After you're signed in, you can check the account for messages, notifications, and alerts. Be sure to look for any display issues as you navigate through their website. These can block QuickBooks from downloading new transactions. Also check their site for any announcements about new security requirements. If everything looks good, return to your books and perform a manual download again.

In the event you're not seeing your latest transactions, or updates still seem stuck, you'll want to continue with steps 3 and/or 4.

I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have a wonderful day!

Utilize the trial version of SlickConnect to isolate the issue. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed. If the same error persists, there is an ongoing problem at your bank.
