@MarkE54  Assuming you mean that you have two Bank accounts in QB that are actually collectively one bank account, you should be able to simply go to your chart of accounts, right-click on one of the Banks in question, and change its name to be the same as the other.

This will trigger a prompt to merge the two Bank accounts together, along with all of their associated transactions.

You can merge the accounts to consolidate your transactions into one, Mark. This process involves renaming the duplicate account to match the one you wish to keep. Allow me to discuss further and I'd be glad to help you today.

@FishingForAnswers is right. Merging the accounts can be an effective strategy for streamlining bookkeeping when managing two registers for a single bank account in QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2024.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Backup Your Company File: Always start by backing up your QuickBooks company file to prevent data loss.
  2. Go to the List tab and select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Locate the account that you want to merge.
  4. Under Action, click Edit.
  5. Enter the same account name that you want to keep.
  6. On the Merge accounts? Prompt, select Yes, and merge accounts.
  7. Click Save.

Additionally, I will leave these two valuable articles that can help you organize your accounts in QuickBooks Desktop. It provides tips to ensure everything is correct and easier for you to access financial data.

Merging accounts is a permanent action, let's ensure you've backed up your data and saved any necessary reconciliation reports beforehand. If you need further assistance in merging your accounts, don't hesitate to go back to this thread. I am always here to help you.

RE: @FishingForAnswers is right.

Yes, he is. And so there is no need for you to post after him with the same answer.  Which is obnoxious.
