Can a bank reconciliation be voided and re-reconciled?

In QuickBooks Online, you can undo or remove transactions from reconciliations. If you want to completely start all over again, you can invite your accountant to your QBO company and then have them undo the entire reconciliation.

 

You can also manually unreconcile the transactions in the bank register. Take note that you can only remove one transaction from a reconciliation at a time to minimize the impact of the changes. Here's how to do it:

 

  1. Go to the Bookkeeping or Accounting menu, then select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the account that has the reconciled transaction, then click View register.
  3. Select the appropriate transaction to expand the view.
  4. In the checkmark column, keep clicking the box with the “R” until the box is blank.to remove the transaction from the reconciliation.
  5. Select Save, then repeat the same steps for the other transactions.
  6. When you're done, close the account register and reconcile your bank account again.
