Question

Can anyone tell me how to manually set up a credit card account? I have one set up as "credit card" but I can't reconcile it properly.

I'll help set up a credit card account and fix the reconciliation concern, @cosmicnashville. Thus, you can manage them accordingly.

Reconciling your credit cards on a regular basis ensures that they match your credit card statements. That said, I'll ensure that you can properly intervene with them.

If you used the new account panel, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Go to the Accounting tab on the left and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Choose New and pick a Credit card.
  3. Complete the Save account under, the Tax formAccount name, and Description fields.
  4. Hit the Starting date and opening balance drop-down, then enter the balance.
  5. Click Save

If you still use the old panel, check out this article for the complete procedure: Add an account to your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

After that, you can either manually enter the transactions or import them all at once. You can learn more about this process by visiting the following websites:

Can I ask if you received any error messages while reconciling your credit cards? Any additional information will assist me in providing precise troubleshooting steps. This way, you can perfectly reconcile the account.

Additionally, you can use our Pay down credit card feature to track your transactions: Record your credit card payments. In this manner, the data will be reflected in your register.
