Hello there, Warren.

Currently, we're unable to delete a bank account in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, you can disconnect it from the Banking page and make it inactive in your Chart of Accounts. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to Transactions and click Bank Transaction.
  2. Select the tile for the account you want to disconnect and click the pencil icon.
  3. Click Edit account info.
  4. Tick the Disconnect this account on save checkbox, then Save and Close.

To inactivate the account in your chart of accounts, please refer to the steps below.

  1. On the Transactions page, click the Chart of Accounts tab.
  2. Locate the bank account and select the dropdown icon under the Action column.
  3. Click Make Inactive and select Yes, make inactive to confirm.

Additionally, it's a good practice to reconcile your accounts monthly to ensure they correspond to your bank statements. Doing so guarantees that they are balanced and accurate.

Feel free to get back to us anytime whenever you have additional questions about deactivating an account in QBO. We're always around to offer assistance. Keep safe, and have a wonderful day ahead.
