Question

Can I merge a duplicate bank register I created in error into the correct register that autoloaded from my bank?

I created a bank register when I wrote and printed 4 checks prior to my bank being linked.  Now that bank register is sitting out there alone.  Can I merge it into the correct one that uploaded from my bank?

Hi, tevfd1.

Yes, you can merge the accounts. I'm here to help achieve this task.

Given that the two accounts have the same types, merging them is possible. Before doing so, take note of the account name that you want to keep.

Then, you're good to merge them:

  1. From the Accounting tab, select Chart of accounts.
  2. Locate the account that you want to merge.
  3. Under ACTION, click Edit.
  4. Enter the same account name that you want to keep.
  5. On the Merge accounts? prompt, select Yes, merge accounts.
  6. Click Save.

Also, here’s information that can help organize your chart of accounts in QuickBooks. It provides tips to ensure everything is correct and easier for you to access financial data.

I'm always here to help if you have other banking questions or concerns. Just press the Reply button to add your comment. Take care!
