Welcome to the Community, crazyhorsecampgr.

You can recategorize transactions that have already been reconciled from an account's register, but you'll need to unreconcile each necessary transaction first.

Here's how:

  1. In your left navigation bar, go to Transactions, then Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the account you're working with and click its View register option.
  3. Locate each transaction you want to unreconcile, and hit their records to expand your view.
  4. After expanding the view, you'll be able to edit them. Where they show an "R" status, keep clicking the letter until it shows nothing anymore or Cleared (C).
  5. Select Save, then Yes. Repeat this process for each transaction you need to unreconcile.
  6. After a transaction's been unreconciled, you can expand your view and edit its category, then save the changes.

If you're working with an accountant who uses QuickBooks Accountant, you can request that they undo your entire reconciliation instead of unreconciling one transaction at a time.

Before unreconciling and making changes to transactions, I'd recommend checking with an accounting professional initially. If you're in need of one, there's an awesome tool on our website called Find a ProAdvisor. All ProAdvisors listed there are QuickBooks-certified and able to provide helpful insights for driving your business's success.

I've also included a detailed resource about reconciling which may come in handy moving forward: Reconcile an account

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a great Wednesday!
