I have a new client where previous bookkeeper deleted transaction and messed up the clients' books from previous year (2017-2021), Is there a way to restore all that data? Everything shows as deleted in clients' books and is creating and all the financials are messed up.

Thank you!

Good day, Accurate Figures.

I'll ensure you can bring those deleted transactions into QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In QuickBooks Online, the option to restore deleted transactions isn't available. However, you can use the Audit Log to re-enter deleted transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Audit Log.
  2. Choose the proper user, date, and event from the Filter dropdown menu and click Apply.
  3. Find the deleted transaction.
  4. Under the History column, select View.
  5. All the information needed for the transaction can be found under the Event column.
  6. Using the information from the Audit log, you can re-enter the transaction with its original transaction date.
