Question

Can I revert to a prior month in my register? I had to reconnect to my bank & accidentally chose 2 unrelated accounts to connect. I want to revert and undo the downloads.

My register is a confusing mess now with unrelated transactions downloaded into it. I'm not sure how to clean it up.

Hello there!

Let me share with you some insights if we undo a previous bank transaction download due to errors in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Based on the provided details in your query, you can undo or remove the downloaded transactions entirely from the categorized tab. If QuickBooks cannot find a match, it will automatically create a new transaction for you if you didn't enter it previously. If you're not confident with what QuickBooks added, you can delete it and start over. Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Bank Transactions.
  2. Select the tile for the bank or credit card account you downloaded the transaction from.
  3. Select the Categorized tab.
  4. Find the transaction you want to delete.
  5. Select Undo from the Action column.

In summary, the process resets the transaction that QuickBooks attempted to create for you. The next step is to disconnect accounts connected to online banking in QuickBooks Online, and then reconnect them. Finally, navigate back to the For Review tab, and categorize the transaction in the way that you prefer.

Please note that it's important to remember that even small changes can unbalance your accounts. To minimize the impact, you can only undo one transaction at a time. If you need to completely start over, I'd suggest reaching out to your accountant.
