Question

Can I set a default bank account for recording deposits? QBO chooses a savings account instead of a checking account. Drives me crazy.

I recognize the accurate recording of your transactions, @SFS375. Let me share a way to change the default account for your deposits.

There are two ways of approaching this. The first is by changing it in QuickBooks Online (QBO), and the second is by changing it in the Merchant Service Center (MSC).

In QuickBooks Online:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Account and settings.
  2. Select Payments and go to Deposit accounts.
  3. Select Change to edit your instant deposit info.
  4. Select Save and then Done.

For more detailed information, please refer to this article: Change the deposit bank account for QuickBooks Payments.

In the Merchant Service Center:

  1. Log in to your MSC account.
  2. Click the Account dropdown and choose Account Profile.
  3. Navigate to the Deposit Account Information section.
  4. Under the Account Type, tick the Checking radio button.
  5. Fill in the necessary details.
  6. Click Submit once done.

Additionally, make sure to reconcile your account regularly to keep it accurate and up-to-date.

Let me know if you need further assistance with your deposits. I'll be here to help you in any way I can.
