Question

Can you still make manual bank deposits to non-bank accounts on the balance sheet? I used to have an "Other current Asset" account as an option for deposit. Thoughts?

I've used to be able to use an "Other Current Asset" BS account as a holding account for Referral fees that are paid out at time of case settlements to clear undeposited funds off the BS. Now it no longer allows for that option.

Thanks for reaching out in the QuickBooks Community page, @michelle-le.

Can you share with me additional info about the steps you use when transferring the amount from the Undeposited Funds account to the Other current Asset account?

Any additional info would be much appreciated.

If you use the Receive payment feature to transfer the funds, then this option still works in QuickBooks. See the image below for your reference.

If not, you can follow these steps as a workaround to transfer the amount. Here's how:

  1. Click the +New and select Receive payment.
  2. In the Deposit to drop-down list, choose the Other Current Asset account that you've set up for Referral fees.
  3. Fill out the rest of the info and click Save and close.

In case you're using this method and unable to see the account, run some basic troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. Sometimes too much cache accumulated in a browser can cause unexpected behavior with the product.

To start, open your account in a private window. This way, we can isolate the issue. Simply press the following shortcut keys:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome).
  • Ctrl + Shift + P (Firefox).
  • Control + Option + P (Safari).

If you're able to select the account, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. If the issue persists, use another supported browser. This might be a temporary issue with QuickBooks and the current browser that you use.

If there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know. I'll be around to help you. Have a great rest of the day!
