Thank you for contacting us and I'm here to help correct the balance on your account, Samzbt.

There's a possibility that the payment was already reconciled, that's why it reduces the balance on your account.

Make sure to manually reconcile payments you've changed to put them back to the reconciled account. To do that, you can follow these steps I've outlined below.

  1. Go to the Accounting menu, then Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the account holding the payment, then select View register
  3. Select the transaction to reconcile.
  4. Review the check column. If the transaction is blank or C, mark the box until you see an "R".
  5. Click Save.
  6. Close the account register.

Please know that making changes to your past reconciliation will unbalance accounts. And, it affects the opening balance on the next reconciliation.

Start by reviewing a previous reconciliation report. If you've reconciled a transaction by mistake, you can unreconcile it.

You can also use the Audit log feature to check what you've recently changed on your QuickBooks account.
