Question

Chart of accounts transactions from feed doubled

Hi,

I have my website feeding in purchases to Quickbooks, when it does this it will also map the payment and register it.

When a payment is made through PayPal that payment is created in Quickbooks Online and related to the invoice / transaction created in Quickbooks. I also have a bankfeed setup for PayPal, when the users transaction appears in there, I match it to the the users purchase.

When going to the chart of accounts, it has then created 2 payment entries for each one. Trying to work out how to handle this and if / what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Let me help you with the duplicate payments in QuickBooks Online (QBO), dphipps.

We'll need to make sure we match the downloaded bank transactions instead of adding them. This is to make sure no duplicate entries added in QBO. However, if you added them already, we can exclude the duplicate ones if the transactions were downloaded from your bank account. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Click the Banking tab.
  3. Select your preferred bank account and go to the For review tab.
  4. Find the duplicate transactions and Exclude them.

You can also read through the Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online for more details about this one. If the transactions were already added to your chart of accounts, let’s go open your account and delete it from there:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Locate your preferred account and the View register link under the Action column.
  4. Click on the duplicate transactions and press Delete

Once everything looks good, you can now reconcile your accounts whenever you're ready. Feel free to visit our Banking page for more insights about managing your bank feeds and reconciling accounts.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Just reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Take care always.
