Question

Checking account and QB bank account off

I am reconciled and my beginning and ending balances match, I've ran discrepancy reports and they come back saying zero issues. I'm also positive that everything on my statements to date is entered into quickbooks,

My problem is that I am about 3k off on my "checking account" vs in "quickbooks" I've done so much troubleshooting searching through the community but can't seem to find help with this issue.

Hi there, quinn1.

Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community. I appreciate you for performing some troubleshooting details to fix the issue. With this, I'll share further information to ensure that your checking account and transactions in QuickBooks Desktop are match and accurate.

When you open the Reconciliation window and choose an account to reconcile, the Beginning Balance is zero or incorrect. This may be due to one of the following reasons:

  • No balance or an incorrect balance was entered when the account was set up.
  • Previously cleared and reconciled transactions were voided, deleted, or modified.
  • The file was converted from a different version of QuickBooks.
  • Possible data damage.

To correct a zero balance and if it is your first time reconciling the account, you can recreate the opening balance. Please note that this option is not available in the Begin Reconciliation window. However, you can create a journal entry and perform a mini-reconciliation to correct it. While to fix an incorrect balance, you'll have to correct the edited, deleted, or cleared transactions. One of the options to find the transactions that caused the discrepancy is to run the Reconcile Discrepancy or Audit Trail reports. Since you've already performed that, you can now re-enter or edit the entries. If the issue persists, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. They have the tools to pull up your account to investigate the cause of the 3000 off or discrepancy.
