I am unable to link my Citi Brokerage Account using the "link account" function.  I have an existing Citi Money Market account that I successfully linked 2 years ago.  when I attempt to add my brokerage account, I am able to log into my Citi account from the Oauth function and select both of my Citi accounts (money market and brokerage), and I receive an email from Citi saying that "You've authorized Intuit to access your Citibank account information," but in the Quickbooks Oauth window I get an error: "Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred. We could not fetch your accounts from your bank."    If I try to the same process but only select the brokerage account, it allows me to sign in, and I get the email from Citi, but in the Oauth window, it keeps sending me back to the Citi login page.   Is this a known issue - that Intuit does not allow brokerage accounts to be linked?

Let's go over some basic troubleshooting steps to connect your Citi Brokerage account to QuickBooks Online (QBO), jeff191.

When you set up online banking, you link your bank and credit card accounts to automatically download transactions. There are several reasons why you may be unable to connect or locate the Financial Institution (FI):

  • Your bank has multiple names on our list. Make sure you have selected the correct listing or have tried all possible links. Search by the banking sign-in URL to ensure you are using the correct listing.
  • Your bank does not connect to all types of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs business accounts).
  • Your bank is not a participating financial institution.

I suggest getting in touch with your FI to see if the account type is supported for an online banking connection before trying to link your Citi Brokerage account to QBO. If yes, make sure to connect it to the online program using the correct URL (listed for your bank).

For additional resources, here's an article that outlines the steps on how to troubleshoot the following: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking.

Aside from the message, could you please tell us if you received any error codes? This is to see if there's a reported issue.

In the meantime, open your company in private browsing or incognito mode to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue. The following are the shortcut keys for bringing up one of all supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome, press CTRL+ Shift+N
  • Mozilla Firefox, press CTRL+Shift+P
  • Internet Explorer, press CTRL+Shift+P
  • Safari, press Command+Shift+N

After signing in, connect your Citi Brokerage account to QBO. If this works, clear the cache of your default browser to remove any stored data causing unexpected issues with the program. Alternatively, you can use another browser to see if the current one is damaged.

I've included an article that will walk you through the process of adding your account to QBO and downloading transactions: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online. You'll also learn how to classify your downloaded entries into the appropriate category.
