I connected the wrong bank account for a different busines to Quickbooks Online.  I caught myself and stopped before I imported any transactions but in Business View -> Banking -> Manage Connections, it's just sitting there waiting to be enabled.  How do I completely remove it so there is no chance of this business accessing another's bank feed?

Appreciate your attention and expertise!

Unfortunately the steps you propose just aren't available to me.  The bank account I need to disconnect does not appear under the accounting view

Accounting View

As you can see, only the correct account shows up in the Accounting View -> Banking screen.  The incorrect account does not, and therefore I can not remove it using the steps yo u have recommended.

Hi, @jmarshall9120. Thank you for your quick reply, and I appreciate you sharing screenshots of your Banking screen. Let me provide additional steps so you can remove the unwanted bank accounts from QuickBooks Online (QBO).

As I can see, the account you want to remove isn't linked to QBO yet. It's just waiting to be enabled and connected. This is why the account does not appear under Banking. To pull it out from your record, you can temporarily enable bank so it'll reflect on the Banking page.

  1. Look for the account under Your linked accounts.
  2. Enable the account by clicking on Enable now.
  3. Follow the onscreen instruction to complete the process.

Once connected, go back to the Banking section to disconnect the account.

  1. Locate the account under Banking.
  2. Tap on the pencil icon.
  3. Click on Edit account info.
  4. In the Connected to section, tick your option to Disconnect this account on save.
  5. Click on Save and Close.

I can assist you in removing your bank account connection from QuickBooks Online, Jamie. This way, there is no risk of this company accessing another's bank feed.

Before disconnecting, I'd recommend excluding the transactions on the For review page. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Banking tab and select For review
  2. Mark all the transactions in the list.
  3. Click Exclude.

Once done, follow the steps below to disconnect:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and choose the tile for the bank account.
  2. Click the pencil icon and select Edit account info.
  3. Hit the Disconnect this account on save checkbox.
  4. Press Save and Close.

For your reference about the process, please see this article: Disconnect accounts connected to online banking in QuickBooks Online.

After that, connect the accurate bank again. Then categorize the transactions. Remember to reconcile your bank regularly to make sure they match your bank statements.

In addition, here's an article to help you fix the accounts you've already reconciled and some banking errors in QBO:

Those options are not available.  The transactions were never imported.  There is nothing on the banking page of the accounting view.  The connection exists solely on the Business View -> Banking -> Manage Connections page.
