Question

Connecting multiple chase credit cards with unique transactions but one joint statement.

Hello!  I was hoping someone could help me figure out how to connect two chase credit cards that have unique transactions, but come through on the same statement.  I need to be able to reconcile them together because while the transactions on each card are unique the payment is applied automatically to the whole account.  I had them both connected as regular accounts and that didn't work, so I tried to connect them as parent/sub-accounts and that also didn't work.  It kept giving me an error message that I was trying to connect a sub account.  Any help on how I can make this work?  Thank you!

Thank you for reaching us, TB551. Allow me to share some information and assist you in properly connecting your credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

The most common way to set up a bank account or credit card account with multiple cards is to create a parent account and then add each individual card as a subaccount underneath.

You also need to understand how your bank sends downloaded transactions before connecting to Online Banking. If all transactions are downloaded to a single account, only connect the parent account. Connect the subaccounts rather than the parent account if the transactions are downloaded to separate accounts.

You can check out this link to learn more about bank or credit card subaccount setup.

After you've set up your bank or credit card accounts, you can begin reconciling accounts by following the steps in this article: Reconcile and account in QuickBooks Online.
