I just stared by QBO account, but unfortunately (soon to be use to) use a detestable bank so my credit card won't link to QBO. How do I enter expenses from the credit card and reconcile them with the credit card payments being made through my checking account, which links fine?

I set the card up in my chart of accounts and thought that I could manually add an expense with the credit card being the source of payment, and then reconcile the credit card account. My balance sheet will show my beginning balance, but any transactions I enter do not get regocnized on th

Welcome to the Community, @dmjarb01.

I'll help you record the credit card payments.

To keep track of your expenses and maintain accurate financial records, QuickBooks Online gives you numerous ways to record credit card payments.

Follow these steps to record your credit card payments in QuickBooks:

  1. Go to + New.
  2. Select Pay down credit card from Money Out (if you're in Business view) or Other (if you're in Accountant view).
  3. Choose the credit card used to make the purchase.
  4. Enter the date and the payment amount.
  5. Click the bank account you used to pay the credit card.
  6. Select I made a payment with a check if that is how you made the payment. If you made your payment electronically, use the EFT number instead of the check number in the Check No. column.
  7. Select Memo and attachments, then adhere to the on-screen directions to add notes or file attachments.
  8. Click Save and Close.

There are alternative methods you can check to record the payment.

Once done, categorize and match transactions in QuickBooks Online before reconciling every month. This way, your books are always 100% accurate.
