Question

Current bank balances as reported by the Banks

I have my bank accounts sync'd with my banks.  But, I'm trying to build a report that shows the current bank balances (not the GL balance but the balance reported by the bank).  I'd be happy with any of the following:

1) a single screen that shows me all of the balances (as reported by the banks),

2) a report that shows me all of the balances (as reported by the banks),

3) a tool that would use QBO APIs to extract all of my balances (as reported by the banks).

I ultimately need the balances to be imported into an external Dashboard application so #3 would probably be the cleanest but any solution would be helpful.

Any help would be help.  Thanks.

Good evening, @rcrh

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community. I hope your day is going great so far.

In QuickBooks, you can run a Balance Sheet Report. Then filter the report by account.

Here's how you can run the report:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Choose Balance Sheet

On the other hand, I'll route you to the right support that can help you with your API questions.

There's a community dedicated to developers and integrating other websites with QuickBooks. I recommend that you sign up and post this question to our separate online forum called Intuit Developer Community.

This site contains resources for software development, as well as the ability to ask fellow developers questions. Our Intuit Developer can provide you with further details on how to use API.

Here's how:

  1. Go to this link: https://help.developer.intuit.com/s/.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Online under What do you need help with?
  3. Hit Ask a Question.
  4. Log into your existing Intuit Developer Account or create a new one.
  5. Enter your concern.
  6. Tap on Ask

Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with. Take care!

Tori, thanks for the response, but this is NOT what I want.  I specifically said that I don't want the LEDGER balance (ie, the number from the balance sheet).  I want the balance reported by the bank.  The difference should be any uncleared payments & deposits and unrecorded bank activity.

QuickBooks relies on the information shared by your bank, rcrh.

I understand that you need a specific report to review your bank balances. Please note that the bank balance displayed in QuickBooks reflects the actual balance reported by the bank, which you can view using the Balance sheet or Transaction detail by Account report.

The report you requested about the difference in uncleared payments, deposits, and unrecorded bank activity is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. Please contact your bank and ask if you can get this type of information or refer to the steps provided by my colleague to inquire about any API questions with our Intuit Developers.

When ready to match your bank and credit card statements with QuickBooks and ensure that everything is accurate and up to date, check this article for guidance: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

I appreciate your follow-up regarding the comparison report of your bank balances. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with regarding managing reports and bank transactions. We're here to help in any way we can.

@rcrh

"1) a single screen that shows me all of the balances (as reported by the banks),"

What about the bank accounts widget on your Dashboard?  Do you not have the bank account balance (as reported by the bank) and register balance for each bank account?

Yes, I have that but it's not really a single screen.  I have over a dozen accounts so I see three or four accounts at a time and then have to slide the widget to see more.  Also, as I said, my ultimate goal is to extract those balances so I can use them in another tool.  So, I really need them in a form that can be exported.

Thanks though.
