Question

Delete transactions from register from prior year

Hi there.  I have a client that hasn't ever reconciled his bank statement.   He had started using QBO around February 2020 so when he set up his bank feed it brought over all the transactions from the previous year.   However he has transactions from the previous year in his register which is causing his bank balance in QB to be crazy high.  How is the best way to get them out of the QB balance?  Can I delete the old transactions?

Thank you for the help!

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community, Debrawo.

You have the option to either exclude or permanently delete the downloaded transactions from last year on your banking page. Follow the steps below for your guide:

Here's how to exclude:

  1. Go the Banking menu and choose the For Review tab.
  2. Select the transactions you want to exclude.
  3. Click the Batch Actions drop-down arrow and select Exclude Selected.

This will move the transactions to the Excluded tab from the For Review tab.

You may find this article handy to learn more about the process of excluding downloaded transactions in QBO.

to permanently delete them, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Excluded tab.
  2. Select transactions to delete.
  3. Click the Batch Actions.
  4. Hit Delete
