That happened to me too. A credit card error stopped payment to me although it was taken from the customer. Three weeks to get my money in many calls.  Ridiculous.  Multiple approvals. Merchant services fixed it eventually.

I've got you both covered, @sarg-brainyhrsol and @permaculturehals. Allow me to provide some details about why your deposits on hold.

If QuickBooks notice something unexpected in the payments, we'll review them which causes the deposits on hold. And any time there's an issue, we'll email you about it. Usually, you'll receive the email in 2 business days. Since it's taking longer than that, I encourage contacting our QuickBooks Payments team for further assistance to check the payment deposit status.

After reviewing them, the funds will be automatically posted into your bank account.

Please let me know if you need clarification about this, or there's anything else I can do for you about recording QuickBooks transactions. I'll be standing by for your reply. Take care and have a great day ahead!

I am BEYOND livid. I Just had to file a complaint with the better business bureau. I have missed my mortgage payment, daycare payments, cant buy groceries for my family etc. Several Vendors paid me TWO WEEKS ago, now amounting to almost $30,000. My supply house bill is through the roof. I cannot run my business nor take care of my family because Quickbooks has my money on hold. How can they do this? I will be reaching out to the attorney general today. If the company is short of help, they should not continue to let people sign up for quickbooks. They should not be able to hold peoples money for weeks on end. This is by far the worst company, and the worst customer service EVER. I call everyday, and most of the time i get no answer. Do not waste you time with this company, there are cheaper options with better customer service tomorrow.

going through the same thing now, did you ever get your money?

Thanks for joining the thread and sharing your concerns with us, @therealky.

Are you new to QuickBooks Payments? If so, your first set of deposits would normally take 5 business days while our Merchant Services team set up your account. Once they finish setting up everything, they'll deposit customer payments much faster.

They also periodically review payments to make sure everything is alright. If your recent customer payment takes longer to deposit than you expect, your funds may be on hold. Don't worry, this doesn't mean there's anything wrong. It means they need are reviewing it.

To verify, you can check its status by following these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Merchant Service Center.
  2. From the homepage, select Activities & Reports and click Deposits.
  3. Choose the date range in the Dates field.
  4. Click Search.

This lists all your daily deposits, when we put them in your bank account, and the totals. If there's a payment issue, you'll see Withheld or Batch Deposit Returned in the Status column. Click the drop-down arrow in the Fee column to review its details. You'll get an email from us with steps to fix the issue.

Moreover, you can check out our QuickBooks Payment Deposit Schedules for additional info.

My deposits have been on hold with no explanation and repeated attempts at contacting customer service. I'm done with QuickBooks. Customer service puts me on hold for 30 minutes only to tell me they have no information, every time I call. I asked what would happen to my money if I cancel my subscription. "Oh it will take like 200 days or more to get your money back." LOL.

Hello @eprinted,

I would feel the same if this issue about the deposit occurs in the time of need. It's very inconvenient and affects the productivity of your business.

The deposit on hold usually means we need to review the payment. It happens when the system recognizes a large amount and needs to verify the funds on your account.

We periodically check payments to make sure everything is alright. It'll benefit everyone involved in the payment process. Since your concern involves your account, It would be best to contact our QuickBooks Payments Team.

They can securely pull up your account and check the details of the deposit that's on hold. Here's how:

  1. Visit our Contact Payments or Point of Sale Support article.
  2. Click QuickBooks Payments.
  3. Select Chat with us.

There are times that customer payments you accept from customers get on hold. For more information about why this is happening or how QuickBooks reviews transactions, check out this link: Why are my funds on hold?.

Feel free to drop a comment if you have additional questions or concerns about the deposit. The Community and I will be sure to lend a hand.

I have the same issue.  I have 3 credit payments on hold.  QB has held a check payment since Dec 8 2022 from a 20 year client!!!!  This is unacceptable!!!!   It’s impacting my business and my clients are bothered by this poor payment service.  If it’s not resolved this year I will stop using the QB billing service.  There is no one to talk to.  Another poor service.

I’m reporting QB to Consumer Affairs.

Hello, john_Urbandesigncenter.

We all want to get paid as soon as possible, and I know how it feels payment delays.

Payment holds are done to review the payment processing and ensure there aren't any issues for all the parties involved.

I'd like to check this for you and get it taken care of myself. However, as much as I would like to get this handled directly, bank-related concerns require pulling up your account information, which I am unable to do in this public forum.

Here's an article where you can see the steps: Contact Payments or Point of Sale Support. Please take note of their operating hours, so you'll know when they're available.

You can keep this article for reference if you bump into an issue with ACH payments in the future: Fix rejected ACH payments or fees in QuickBooks Payments. It has a list of all error codes, along with the steps on how you can resolve them.

Post a reply in the comments below if you have any other questions about receiving online payments in QuickBooks Online. I'll be right with you as soon as I can. Have a pleasant day!

Also, I've added these articles to learn more about how you can take and process payments in QuickBooks:

Please let me know if you have other concerns regarding your transactions or Payments account. My team and I will make sure to address them accordingly.

Three payments coming into my accounts were placed on hold and  and said action was require. No emails were ever sent to me from quickbooks/ intuit so i had no idea what to do.  The information provided next to the all 3 of the "on hold" invoices said that instructions to follow were in my email...agin, no emails were ever sent. My friend Google then told me to check the resolution center, however there was no information there either.  Then made the 1st call to support (Abigale), she said there was some type of conflicting information within my account between their system and some software ....support said it was cleared up and they would follow up with me once my case was picked up and being corrected...never happened. 2nd call to support (Sam) a day later; this person said everything was ok looking on my account from their end and clear, but the review still had to be cleared by "the team" and it would occur in 2-3 days.  Now, a day later and 3 NEW payments were made to my quickbooks account, only to also be put on hold. NO EMAILS WERE SENT YET AGAIN.  NOR DID I RECEIVE ANY CALLS.  Just made a 3rd phone call to support (could not understand his name) and now being told that the deposits should be cleared up in 7-10 days.  What a hassle you are QB.   Sure know how to make your long time customers hate you.  My company will now begin to consider other payment systems and software.  Good day

Same with me.....This company is pathetic and not right for the small business owner. Cancelling service as soon as I get my money.

July 29, 2023

I switched banks and did the two deposit inputs. I have called almost every day and they say they can’t help and that they do not have a number for that department. Holding close to 9 thousand dollars. I was told tomorrow the funds would be released. That was three times now. Tomorrow has come and gone and still nothing. Ridiculous

Hi there, Thecanman. Payment holds can be a deal-breaker when it comes to managing your customer payments. I want to make sure you'll be guided to the right support.

I'm furious. I've been trying to figure out for weeks why I can't get my books to balance and I'm just now finding that we've got a bunch of sales going back three weeks that are listed as "deposit on hold" totaling over $2500. We're a new business and that's a HUGE amount for us. Like this is a being able to make payroll without owners having to go without pay kind of an amount to us. When I try to investigate it simply says "check your email for more information" but I'm searching all inboxes and finding NOTHING about the issue.

FURIOUS.
