Desktop 2019 Bank Feeds

I have uploaded bank transactions to bank feeds.  The rules match to the "downloaded as" column.

The definitive information is in the Bank Memo column which means I have to add each one.

I have turned of automatic matching or creating rules but I would really like to be able to memorize them!

The bank is Old National Bank.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thank you!

Hey, mjensen50.

Thanks for dropping by the Community and clarifying. Unfortunately, bank rules can only be set to bank text description and amount and you can only copy bank detail to the memo column. However, i can see how it would be beneficial to include the rules in the memo, so I'm going to recommend this to our product development team to see about getting it added to a future update. You can keep an eye on our Blog, that's where information is posted about updates coming to the QuickBooks product.

I'm also including a helpful article for you to check out about adding and matching bank feed transactions in QuickBooks

If you have any other questions, feel free to post here anytime. Thank you for your time and have a nice evening.

Let me share some insights about memorizing bank transactions, mjensen50.

QuickBooks can automatically enter your transactions using the Memorize feature to save time. However, this feature is unavailable for downloaded bank transactions. I've listed all the transactions below that can be memorized.

Recurring Outgoing Cash Flows:

  • Rent
  • Loan or lease payments
  • Recurring bills in QuickBooks
  • Monthly health insurance bills
  • Monthly electronic withdrawals from checking, such as internet access payments or business insurance installment payments
  • Recurring checks in QuickBooks for software or personal services paid in regular amounts or intervals
  • Recurring checks in QuickBooks for software or personal services paid in regular amounts or intervals

Recurring Sales:

  • Rent collections
  • Repeating tuition invoices
  • Monthly installment payments due from customers
  • Recurring sales transactions for services or products supplied monthly or other regular intervals

Recurring Purchase Orders:

  • Purchase Orders that are repeated with the same items. With this type of transaction, you can manually select from the memorized transaction list and delete the lines for products that aren't needed in the next purchase.

Recurring Journal Entries:

  • Recurring Monthly Depreciation journal entries
  • Allocation of overhead to other departments

Recurring Estimates:

  • If you frequently choose the same line items when creating a quote

For now, you can use the Bank Rule option when sorting your downloaded transactions in QuickBooks.

I also encourage you to browse this article about creating and modifying renaming rules in QuickBooks. This guide ensures that the payees match in QuickBooks. Use renaming rules for Bank Feeds.

Additionally, I've included an article that'll help you manage the transactions in your Bank Feeds differently: Switch Between Banking Modes.

Thank you, Charlene for your time.  I wasn't asking about Memorized transactions per se.  I was asking about the rules reading from the "downloaded" column of the bank feed instead of the Memo Column.

The downloaded column only has CRD PUR then a series of numbers, which change on each transaction.

The MEMO column has the vendor the purchase was made from.  I'd like the rules to read from the MEMO column for its direction.

Sorry, I must not have been very clear.  I apologize.
