Hi there, @memoryost. I've got you covered for today. I'll ensure you can get through this, so you can update your transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO) without experiencing any delay.

Before we proceed, may I ask what transactions in QBO you're trying to update? Are you trying to update your bank feeds? Or you're trying to edit existing sales transactions in your business? I'll discuss the troubleshooting below for each possible scenario so you can proceed and complete your business tasks smoothly.

If the transactions in your bank feeds may seem stuck or take time to load, the issue may be on the bank's end. You'll want to sign in to your bank's website to check if there's an ongoing issue or if they're doing maintenance updates. These are the steps:

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, select Transactions.
  2. Click Bank transactions (Take me there), or go to Bank transactions (Take me there).
  3. Select Link account. A reminder, You won’t add an account, you just need the listed URL.
  4. Search for your bank and select it.
  5. Copy the URL listed for your bank.
  6. Sign in to your bank or credit card's website using the copied URL.

If you can sign in, it's a great sign that there's no major issue to fix. you'll then proceed to check the following:

  1. Check your account for messages, notifications, or alerts.
  2. Look for any display issues as you navigate the website. These can block QuickBooks from downloading new transactions.
  3. Check your bank’s website for any announcements about new security requirements.

Visit this article for more information about this and how to troubleshoot specific banking errors if you happen to experience them in your account: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Next, I'll discuss how to troubleshoot regular sales transactions in QuickBooks that may seem stuck or take time to load when you're trying to process or edit them. In this case, it's possible that due to the increase of temporary internet files in the browser that you're using. It causes your operations to slow down. Know that internet files may increase the loading performance of your browser, but too much can build up and cause your activity to be stuck.

You can perform some basic troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue. I'll gladly input the process below so you can proceed. To begin, access your QBO account in an incognito or private browser. Use these shortcut keys to access an incognito in any browser:

  • Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+N
  • Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+P
  • Safari: Command+Shift+N

Once you're in,  access your QBO company, and try to process or edit a transaction. If it works, and you're able to do it smoothly without taking a lot of time, proceed to clear your browser's cache. See this article for the steps: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

You can also consider other compatible browsers if the issue persist. Refer to this article to see the list of compatible browsers in QuickBooks Online: Other browsers.
