I have Quickbooks 2018 Enterprise and when I try and add the banking services it crashes with error code 19697 96386. I have tried all the fixes suggested online and I have done all of the updates. Anyone know what is causing this error.

Thanks,

Bill

Hi there, @Simply_bill. I've got some troubleshooting steps to get past this error so you can connect your bank to QuickBooks.

First, make sure to update your QuickBooks Desktop to its latest release version to get the latest features and fixes.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Downloads & Updates page.
  2. Click the standard setup link.

  3. Select the country, product, & version and click the Search button.
  4. Click the Get the latest updates link.

  5. After downloading the updates, navigate to the Downloads folder of your computer and double click the update file to initiate the installation process.
  6. Follow the prompts on the screen to install the updates.
  7. Restart your computer after the update is installed successfully.

Once done, launch the QuickBooks and set up your bank for online banking. If you still get the same error, I'd suggest creating a backup copy and proceed to the steps listed in this article: Unrecoverable Error: General Troubleshooting Steps.

I'd also suggest clicking Send whenever you receive the unrecoverable error. This way, we can gather all the information and create patch updates to improve the program.

@Simply_bill

QBD 2018 is outdated and the bank feeds feature will not work. You have to import the data manually, upgrade to QBD Enterprise 2022, or cross-grade to QB Desktop Pro/Premier 2020 or 2021.
