Had no problem downloading bank transactions for years. Now suddenly I get this message:

Unable to get branding information.

The specified server ID does not exist or no longer exists.

We could not connect to Intuit to retreive information about your bank. Please try again later.

This happens with all accounts. I've tried answers in the forum to no avail, including https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/banking/fix-online-banking-issues-quickbooks-desktop-mac/L0PlPNleh_US_en_US?uid=lbhebduj

After speaking with customer support, I disconnected my accounts from Direct Connect and changed to Web Connect, and then it worked to manually download the .qbo files from my bank and open them in Quickbooks Desktop Mac. But only worked for 2 months. After that, I can't open .qbo files for any of my accounts. I get this error:

QuickBooks was not able to complete your request.

Please contact your financial institution.

(OL-222)

I've done plenty of troubleshooting, including creating a new Test company account and editing the .qbo file to remove errant characters and such. Tried every remedy I could find on this forum. No luck. I even downloaded just one single transaction, and that .qbo file also got the same error. I spoke with my bank, and they said there shouldn't be a problem. Please help. I'm on Quickbooks 2020 Desktop for Mac. I'm really not interested in upgrading to a new version which requires annual subscription.

I cannot even imagine what you've been through, @Cabbage1. I genuinely understand how important it is to download our bank transactions accurately.

Let me share some information as to why you're experiencing this difficulty. To explain why you were unable to download bank transactions or access the Bank feeds, you have an outdated QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) version. Thus, activities are limited to recording purposes only.

I know how hard it is to transition to what we're used to, @Cabbage1. However, you may want to consider purchasing the supported version. The latest version allows limitless activities to enable you to manage your business accurately.

If you ever consider, you can visit this website: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/desktop/.
