Question

For an entire month, the credit charges loaded into our QBO are showing as payments in the register and payments are showing as charges. How do I fix all these?

Hi there, @kerry-landry. I'm here you fix the credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To resolve this, you can use the Banking download method. In this process, you'll have to transfer the payment if the credit card and the bank account you use to pay the credit card expense are connected to bank feeds. Refer to the steps below to get this done right away.

Transfer the payment:

  1. In your QBO account, go to the Bookkeeping menu and select Transactions.
  2. Next, click Expenses.
  3. Choose the account you need to transfer the payment from.
  4. Select the transaction, then click the Pay down credit card radio button.
  5. In the Transfer account dropdown menu and pick the account you want to send the transaction.
  6. When done, click Confirm.

On the other hand, you can transfer the payment with the Record as transfer option. For detailed instructions, check out this article: Record as a transfer.

After that, you'll now need to match it with the new account.

For reference about the process, please read this article: Record your payments to credit cards in QuickBooks Online.

I've also added this helpful resource that you can use as a guide in making sure that your account matches your real-life bank statement: Learn the reconciliation workflow in QuickBooks.
