Question

For my American Express credit card, there are 2 users, me and my husband. However, only my transactions are getting imported into QB. Why is this happening and how can I import my husband's Amex transactions into the program?

Hello, Laura.

I'm happy to work with you and help you bring your husband's AMEX transactions into QuickBooks Self-Employed.

There might be some prompts or issues with the connection, which is why you're unable to get your husband's transactions into QuickBooks.

To fix this, you'll want to go to your AMEX's website and disconnect the account from there. Then, reconnect it within Self-Employed.

To disconnect the account from AMEX website:

  1. Log in to your AMEX account.
  2. Click the Account Services tab.
  3. Go to Security & Privacy.
  4. Click Manage Partner Permissions.
  5. Expand the Intuit section.
  6. Click Disconnect.

If your husband is added to your account as another card member, then you'll also want to connect their account. Having two separate accounts might be the reason why their transactions didn't import into QuickBooks.

If you need help connecting your AMEX account, this article can definitely guide you: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Another alternative way of getting your husband's transactions is to use the manual import method

After bringing you and your husband's transaction into Self-Employed, you can start categorizing them for your taxes
