Question

For some reason I was unable to connect to the bank, and when I reconnected, I ended up with two identical accounts. Can they be combined into one?

Hi there.

I'd gladly help you address your concern with your duplicate bank account integrated with QuickBooks Online.

Yes, you can merge duplicate accounts in QuickBooks Online.

Here's how:

  1. Head to the Gear icon on the top-right part of the page and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the duplicate account. Then, select the dropdown icon in the ACTION column and then hit Edit.
  3. Modify the Account name and Detail Type so the identical account info matches the account you want to keep.
  4. Click Save, then Yes, merge accounts.

Now that you have merged your duplicate accounts in QuickBooks Online, you can also consider converging duplicate customers or vendors in QuickBooks Online.
