Question

Has anyone encountered an issue with reconciliations being off despite matching bank/credit card statements? This has happened with several client accounts this week.

Hi @lclavine,

I'm glad to see you posting here in the Community about your reconciliation concern. I'm here to help you balance the account to reconcile successfully in QuickBooks Online.

There are several possible reasons why your reconciliation balance is off. You can perform some basic troubleshooting to determine the cause of the issue.

It may be possible that someone entered an incorrect ending balance at the start of the reconciliation. QuickBooks uses this for accuracy when comparing details with your bank statement.

Here's how:

  1. While you're reconciling an account, in the Reconciliation window, select Edit info.
    Check
  2. Review the Ending balance and Ending date.
  3. Check your bank statement. Make edits as needed.
  4. When you're done, select Save.

Also, I recommend reviewing the transactions you've entered in QuickBooks. Please note that transactions that didn't clear your bank will lead to ending balance issues.

I have a link here you can visit to fix the issue with your reconciliation. It contains detailed instructions you may not have performed yet to get back on track. Check this out: Fix issues at the end of a reconciliation in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can run a reconciliation report to review your work. For additional reference, I've attached a link you can use about how you can run it in QuickBooks: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Fill me in if you have additional questions about reconciliation in QBO. I'm always here to help. Take care always.
