Hello I have my business checking pluss (4454)-3 and my BBVA acounts. The bank I use changed from BBVA to PNC bank awhile ago. These accounts are actually the same business account only the BBVA dates back further than the PNC. How would I merge the two together to have a fluid account between the two?

Hello, question guy.

I'll chime in and help you merge your bank accounts in QuickBooks Online.

We can merge the two bank accounts, but this depends if both are connected to the Online Banking feature.

To elaborate, we're unable to merge two accounts that are both connected with their corresponding live bank accounts (this is also true for banks using the manual upload process). We'll want to disconnect one first to proceed with the merge.

Make sure to categorize those transactions under For review before disconnecting the account. When you're done, proceed with the disconnection process:

  1. Go to Bookkeeping or Banking.
  2. Select the tile for the bank account (the one that you don't need anymore).
  3. Click the pencil, icon, then procced with Edit account info.
  4. Check the Disconnect this account on save box.
  5. Click Save and Close.

After disconnecting, we can proceed with the merge to streamline the connection under one account. Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to your Chart of Accounts page.
  2. Find the bank account you want to merge, then click the arrow icon beside View register.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. Under Account name, change the name to the one you want to merge the account with.
  5. Edit the Tax form section to the same category if needed.
  6. Once done, click on Save.
  7. A prompt will appear on the window, simply select Yes, merge accounts.
  8. Click on Save again to go back to the Chart of Accounts page.

If one account is not using the Online Banking connection, just proceed with the merge as outlined above.
