Question

Hi. I already have my bank linked to my Quickbook account online. Have a couple new accounts at same bank. When I go to update, Quickbooks doesn't see the new accounts?

The bank confirmed that it's not an issue on their end. When I contacted Quickbooks support they said it was a bank issue?

Let's get this sorted out, @drnate.

I've come to make sure you'll be able to update your bank accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before we begin, may I know the name of the financial institution you're trying to update? This information is a great help so I can check if there's a reported issue related to your concern.

Also, in QBO you can only see banks on the Banking page if they are connected to online banking. If the bank account isn't connected or doesn't have imported files on it, this will only show on the Chart of Accounts (COA) page. However, you'll also have the option to connect them to QBO

Meanwhile, you can perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue. Let's start with manually updating your bank to refresh the connection between the bank's website and QBO.

If the same thing happens, let's confirm that you can sign in to your bank's website using the URL that it has provided for online banking. Ensure it is the same URL in QBO.

  1. From the left pane, choose Banking and select Banking
  2. Then, click Add Account
  3. Next, search and select your bank from the list.
  4. After that, click the login URL for your bank's website posted at the top of the window
  5. Sign in using your bank's username and password
  6. Then, verify that you're able to open your account through this linked website. Log in and ensure that you can view the account summary, history, and details without any problems.

If the issue persists, I recommend following Steps 3 to 4 of this article: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Once everything is fine, you'll now need to categorize and match your downloaded transactions to ensure they are allocated to the correct accounts. This is necessary before you do your monthly reconciliation.

Keep me posted if you have additional concerns about updating your banks in QBO. Please don't hesitate to leave a reply below. I'm just around the corner to help you. Take care always.
