You came to the correct forum for assistance with changing a day in your reconciliation year date in QuickBooks Online.

If you haven't completed the reconciliation yet, you can still change the reconciliation ending date by following these steps:

  1. Go to Accounting in the left panel and select the Reconcile tab.
  2. Choose the bank account from the Account drop-down list.
  3. Pick the Resume reconciling button.
  4. From the upper right-hand corner, click the Edit Info button.
  5. Change the reconciliation year date from there.
  6. Click Save.

However, if you've already finished the process, you need to undo the reconciliation and correct the year date. The Undo option is only available in QuickBooks Online Accountant. I'd recommend inviting your accountant to your company and letting them undo the reconciliation period at once.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner and select Manage Users.
  2. Go to the Accounting firms tab, enter the accountant's email, and click the Invite button.
  3. Pick Save.
  4. Once invited, have your accountant undo the entire reconciliation.

If the date of the reconciled transactions needs to be changed, you will have to undo them individually. Refer to this article: Undo and remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online. You can find instructions on adjusting and fixing beginning balances in the write-up provided on the link.

The ending date box is ready.  This is the first time a calendar popped up and populated the date.  It is still red and will not let me continue.  I used to enter the date xx/xx/xxxx.  But it will not let me enter a date - just from the calendar.

Thank you for the prompt response, S1025. Let's perform some troubleshooting steps so that you can edit the ending date in your reconciliation in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Since you're unable to edit your ending date on your end, we can open your account in an incognito mode to see if this has something to do with your browser.

Here's how to access incognito mode in some of the most commonly used web browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If you're able to edit your ending date by browsing privately, it's safe to say that it's being caused by the browser. It can be fixed by clearing your cache and cookies.

In the event it continues occurring while using incognito, you'll initially have to try switching to another browsing application.

Here's a list of supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari 11 or newer
