Question

Hi, I followed the directions to upload CSV files to QB Freelance but nothing seems to work. I'm trying to import data from last year, taxes are due and it's a long story

I keep getting a message to try the Downloads folder. That's been done. Any suggestions are very welcome. Thank you

Good day, snafucat. 

 

I'm here to ensure that you'd able to upload a CSV file to QuickBooks.

 

Let's access your account in a private window when uploading your transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). Doing so helps us determine if this is a browser-related issue.

 

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

 

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Internet Explorer: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift +N

 

Once signed in, import the transactions again. If it works, go back to your regular browser and remove the history. We can also try accessing your account using another supported browser.

 

Then, review the column headers and data of your downloaded file. Ensure that the Date, Description, and Amount columns on the CSV match the columns and order in QuickBooks.

Wow! This is the first time I have ever posted to a community group that I have received an answer that worked!

I accessed my account in private browsing and am now going through the transactions to make sure they are listed under the correct categories. I assume I do the same for credit card info as well? Also, should I clear the cache before making sure the categories are done correctly or is after ok?

It's good to know that you're able to import and categorize the transactions successfully, snafucat.

 

Clearing cache or using a private browsing session clears out any common issues when working in QuickBooks Self-Employed. Since you're able to accomplish the task, it's no longer necessary to clear the cache for the credit account. 

 

You can proceed to assigning the categories so you can file your taxes right away. Although, you can follow the same steps given in the previous response just in case you would experience browsing issues again.
