Question

How can I change the bank account the system recorded transactions are being posted to from merchant accounts?

I can't find where to change the bank account for the fees that are generated from merchant account transactions. We switched banks and the deposits are posting correctly to QBO, but not the fees. The fees are still being posted to the old account. Thanks

Hello Balacct1,

Welcome to the Community. I can help you change the bank account for the fees for QuickBooks Payments.

I recommend reviewing the accounts selected on the settings of your QuickBooks. From there, you can verify if the changes or updates are reflected already.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙at the top, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Select Payments from the menu.
  3. In the Chart of Accounts section, select the pencil ✎ (edit) icon.
  4. For Where do you want to record payments?, choose the correct bank account.
  5. For Where do you want to record processing fees?, choose the proper account for tracking processing fees.
  6. Hit Save.

If the information is correct and it's still deposited to the old account, contact our QuickBooks Payments Team. They have the tools to update the details on your behalf.

Also, did you know there are specific types of accounts you can deposit customer payments into? I've attached an article you can visit to learn more about the deposit process: Change the deposit bank account for QuickBooks Payments.
