Question

How can I remove multiple entries in my register when i begin to reconcile? I set up Rules for transactions and it entered multiple entries retroactively.

I now have duplicate entries , literally hundreds of cleared transactions. Is there an easy way to do a batch delete or the duplicates?

Hi, wandvqb.

I'm here to help delete the duplicate bank transactions you have in your QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Currently, the option to remove multiple entries in the register is unavailable in QBO. However, you can go to the Banking menu and exclude the duplicates from the downloaded transactions.

Here's how to do it:

  1. In QBO, go to the Banking menu at the left pane.
  2. On the Banking page, proceed to the Reviewed or Categorized tab since they have been added using bank rules.
  3. Select all the duplicate transactions, then tick Undo.
  4. In the For Review tab, choose the duplicate transactions.
  5. In the Excluded tab, check the boxes for these duplicates.
  6. Click on Batch actions and hit Delete.

For more information about managing and excluding bank transactions, check out this article: Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online.

Once done, you can now proceed with reconciling your account. Refer to this article for further guidance with the process: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
