I was trying to automatically pull transactions from my bank account and clicked update under banking.  It messed up my whole checkbook register.  It also added the loans on a second time.  How can I undo this?  Thanks.

Hey there, @RMF1

I'll help you fix your bank register to ensure your books are accurate.

It's possible that these transactions are downloaded twice and were categorized on the banking page. This is the reason why it creates duplicates in your register.

We can simply undo these transactions from the Categorized section. That way, they will return to the For review tab where we can exclude them. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and select Banking.
  2. Click tile for the bank or credit card account you downloaded the transaction from.
  3. Select the Categorized tab and find the transaction you want to unmatch.
  4. Click the blue transaction link in the Added or Matched column to see the matched transaction.
  5. Select Undo from the Action column.

Once they go back to the For Review tab, review if you can match the transactions to any sales or expenses that you've created inside QuickBooks. If you can't find a match, it's possible that it's already matched to existing ones. If this was the case, you can exclude them to avoid duplicates.

If you need further help in fixing your books, I'd suggest getting in touch with your accountant. They can personally review your books and help you fix the discrepancies in your account.

After you fixed everything, you can now perform your monthly reconciliations. This way, we can ensure that your accounts are matched with your bank and credit card statements.
