How do I add a manual account (one that can not be linked) to QuickBooks?

I have a credit card account that I need to add that I cannot link via Mobile banking. The account has been closed but I need to categorize transactions to it. The company says they can't give me online access due to the account being closed now. I only was able to get paper statements.

I know how you can add and categorize transactions from your credit card account in QuickBooks Online, @andersonhomestea. Let me give you some details and walk you through the process.

You can simply navigate to the Chart of Accounts page and manually add the credit card account. I'll show you how:

  1. Open the Accounting menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Click on the New button.
  4. Choose an account under the Save account under the drop-down.
  5. Fill out the Tax form section drop-down.
  6. Enter the Account name in the box. Include a description if necessary.
  7. Once done, click on Save.

Here's a complete module about handling new accounts in QBO: Add an account to your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online. This also includes another way of setting up the account depending on your subscription interface.

Once the account is added, you can already upload and categorize the transactions.
