Question

How do I change the bank account that I have linked to my quickbooks? During startup I chose the wrong account and i need to remove it and add the correct account. Thanks

Hi there, @brian-wright1022.

When you connect an account to online banking, QuickBooks automatically downloads your recent transactions. If you want to change the bank account that is linked to the program, simply disconnect it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and select the Banking tab.
  2. Click the tile for the bank account, then select the pencil ✎ icon and click Edit account info.
  3. Select the Disconnect this account on save checkbox.
  4. Click Save and Close.

After disconnecting, QuickBooks deletes transactions that still need to be categorized in the For review tab. If the transactions are older than 90 days, you won't be able to download them into QuickBooks again.

Once done, you can now connect your correct bank account to QuickBooks Online. Once connected, QuickBooks automatically downloads transactions so you don't have to enter them manually. All you need to do is to approve the way it categorized them. Here's how to review and categorize downloaded transactions.

Do you want to completely delete your disconnected account? If so, follow the steps in this article: How to delete an account and make it inactive.

Keep me posted if you need anything else or if you have other questions about managing your accounts in QuickBooks. I'll be here to help. Have a great day ahead.
