Question

How do I delete or disconnect an old bank account from my QBO? The old bank account still shows on my loading page in QBO but has been dead for 4 years.

Welcome to the Community, @Acorn Counseling.

I can provide the steps to disconnect your old bank account from QBO since it has been static for four years. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Bookkeeping menu and then select Transactions.
  2. Click the Bank transactions tab.
  3. Select the bank tile that shows on your Dashboard/Loading page.
  4. Click the Pencil icon and then choose Edit account info.

  5. Check the Disconnect this account on save box.
  6. Hit Save and close.

I'm adding this guide for further important info about disconnecting an account: Disconnect accounts connected to online banking in QuickBooks Online.

Once done, you'll want to consider making the account inactive so it won't show on your Dashboard/Loading page. Please check this article for guidance on what to know before deactivating the account: Make an account inactive on your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you'll want to reconnect your online banking accounts moving forward. Please follow the steps from the Connect your bank account from your chart of accounts section through this article: Connect a bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks.
